Introduction to Moving Platforms
Level 2 builds on the fundamentals from Level 1 by introducing moving platforms. While the platforms themselves behave normally (they're not reversed), you still need to navigate them with your inverted controls. This creates an interesting disconnect: you're watching normal platform movement while inputting opposite commands.
The key insight for Level 2 is that timing matters more than in Level 1. You can no longer just jump whenever you want—you need to jump (press DOWN) when the platform is in the right position to catch you.
Understanding Platform Patterns
Level 2 features three types of moving platforms:
- Horizontal Sliders: Move left and right in a predictable pattern
- Vertical Oscillators: Move up and down, requiring careful timing
- Diagonal Movers: Appear near the end of the level
Each platform type has a consistent rhythm. Watch them complete at least one full cycle before attempting to jump on them.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1: The Opening Section
You spawn on a static platform similar to Level 1. Move forward (press LEFT to go right) until you reach the first gap. Here, you'll see your first moving platform—a horizontal slider moving back and forth over the gap.
Wait for the platform to slide toward you. When it's close, jump (press DOWN) and land on it. Stay on the platform as it carries you across, then jump to the next static platform.
Step 2: The Vertical Challenge
The second section introduces vertical platforms. Two platforms move up and down in an alternating pattern. The trick is to jump from one to the other when they're at similar heights.
Time your jump when the first platform is near its peak and the second is rising to meet you. This minimizes the distance you need to cover and gives you the best landing window.
Step 3: The Hidden Alcove
After the vertical section, you'll see what appears to be a dead end on the left wall. It's not! There's a hidden alcove containing the first Blue Cube. Jump toward the wall (press RIGHT to move left) and you'll pass through a fake wall section.
Step 4: The Diagonal Finale
The final section features a diagonal moving platform that carries you toward the exit. This platform moves in a sweeping arc, and you need to stay on it for the full journey. Make small adjustments (remember: press the opposite direction you want to move) to stay centered on the platform.
Collectibles in Level 2
- Blue Cube #1: Hidden alcove in left wall (fake wall)
- Blue Cube #2: Under the third moving platform (fall down on purpose)
- Red Cube: Above the exit, requires riding the diagonal platform to its highest point
Pro Tips
- Watch Before You Jump: Always observe a platform's full movement cycle before attempting to board it.
- Stay Centered: On moving platforms, make constant micro-adjustments to stay in the middle.
- Trust the Fake Walls: Some walls in Opposite Day 2 can be walked through. If something looks suspicious, try walking into it.
- Use Platform Momentum: Moving platforms can give you extra distance on jumps if you time them right.
